Below is an outline of the timeline of events for the 2012 competition.

February 2012

Think Like an Investor

When writing a business plan it is important to keep in mind the audience. Whether it's a prize from Economic Fuel or a bank loan, your readers are potential investors in your business. This workshop will focus on understanding what an investor is looking for when they are reading a business plan and how to create your plan to anticipate their questions, understand their priorities and address their concerns.

Facilitated by Gayle Abramson, a Management Consultant with Insight & Strategies. She has advised two economic fuel $25,000 winners and has coached clients through the business plan process.

Business Plan Deadline

Business Plans must be received by 5:00pm on March 19th at the CR Eureka Downtown Instructional Site, 605 K Street, Eureka.

Elevator Pitch Practice Session

Tuesday, Mar. 20th
6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Location to be announced.

Teams are given the opportunity to practice their elevator pitches with volunteering local Toastmasters who provide advice and feedback.

Elevator Pitch Presentations & Showcase Exhibits

Thursday, Mar. 22nd
Showcase Exhibits: 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Elevator Pitch Presentations: 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Competitors have two minutes to pitch their business idea in the first judged round of Economic Fuel. Teams also have the option of displaying a showcase exhibit on the night of the pitches.
