Owner
The Jitter Bean Coffee Co.

Background
My wife and I came to Eureka to serve on the staff of a local church as Youth Pastors in 1987. We started the Jitter Bean while still on staff in July of 1997, and made the full transition to the business in 1999. The business has grown to five locations, three in Eureka, one in Fortuna and one in Arcata, as well as a roasting business.

Experience/Expertise

Our experience is in starting the business from scratch and building it over the last ten years to what we have today. Along the way we have learned a lot of lessons and desire to help others as they venture into the world of starting and building their own businesses.

What I look for in a business plan

When I look at a business plan I’m looking for viability. Will it fit this market? I also look to see if there is an understanding beyond just the technical functions of the business. What about managing? What about growth? The financials are also important. What’s the plan and does it make sense?
