Little Redwoods will be both a preschool and childcare program in Southern Humboldt. We will provide a service that will greatly impact the community. We will offer quality childcare to working families and create an educational atmosphere which will prepare children to enter kindergarten.

Team Advisors:

Gayle Abramson, T Highsmith, Mike Nerat

Most Useful Resources:

My most useful resources were my business advisor Gayle Abramson, other preschool and childcare owners in the community, and the North Coast SBDC.

Reason for Participating in Economic Fuel:

It has been my dream to open a preschool and this is an opportunity to make it happen. There is a large need for a preschool and childcare in Southern Humboldt, the community really needs this. Combining my savings with the Economic Fuel prize will allow me open my doors by the end of the year.

Advice for Future Competitors:

Find an advisor that you are comfortable with. Have passion in what you are doing and be prepared to make a full commitment. This is a full time job!

Most Valuable Lesson Learned from Writing the Business Plan:

I learned how important writing a business plan is. It is important to think the business through and plan accordingly. Completing my financial projections allowed me to see how viable my business really is. Making small changes in the details of the plan can greatly impact the revenue.
