An entrepreneur for over 10 years Judy was owner and operator of two businesses, ten employees, within the recreational field, focusing on children and family fitness. 12 years economic and business development working with Humboldt Bay Alliance, marketing the County to the outside, 5 years City of Eureka economic development within the Redevelopment Department, 5 years County of Humboldt as Economic Development Coordinator Over 5 years as private consultant focusing on business development, assisting long standing Humboldt County companies adjusting to the changing economy and finding a niche market. Judy continues to consult with local businesses and assists businesses in the setup phase as well. 10 years+ with Women’s Entrepreneur Institute ~ ‘a non-profit without walls’ organized to educate and support local women owned businesses through a variety of networking opportunities.

Judy has a strong desire to help create a strong and diversified economy in Humboldt County, by helping local businesses grow and add jobs. Judy believes our local businesses are the core which keep the North Coast strong!

What I look for in a business plan

Reality based - Revenue projections lower than expected by at least 25% and Expenses projections increased by at least 25% Research has been completed to assess the type of business would be successful in local area with projections out at least 3 – 5 years. Proposed owner shows the capacity and determination to go the distance with a reality based knowledge about the work required to successfully run a business.
